ASTOUNDED
I love school. Sometimes I love bullshit weather.
I came home from work one night and mis parientes were watching an American broadcast of the opening ceremonies (since the Canadian broadcast was live). They found it much better with the explanation of what each part was supposed to be of (awesome farkin’ kilt wearing fiddle playing tap dancers OF DOOM FUCK YES). The next day I got some opinion from a customer at work that the American version was infuriating… from the beginning bit (the part I didn’t get to watch) when all the countries were coming in with the constant commentary of “So that country’s the size of this state” and/or “with the population of this state/city”.
I went down to Seattle for the week, to live with Charmsies and Steve a while. Excellent fun. Walked about everywhere. Their place is like… max. ten blocks from everywhere. Max. Including her university. Max. I don’t know about down there but up ‘ere eight blocks is a mile. That’s the distance to my school from my house. Of which I bike in six minutes (yay downhill).
Ate some good food, cooked some good food, got Charmsies addicted to White Collar, watched some of the executive transvestite -eyebrow waggle- (hah, French bit of win), trips to the library. We worked out the design of Stannum (more or less) and I suppose I should do a more detailed sketch of it (with room widths) in plan and elevation.
Second week of my reading break/the Olympics, we pulled off some bullshit. All right, so what was was some chilling with the guys and all, the norm and the norm is pretty damn awesome for instance I have a guitar now and a mini-amp (have yet to pay for that… and a snare Squeek grabbed the other day). Madness and gay sex. The bullshit was us in the no-snow-Olympics. Bullshit as in Harry Dresden “how the fuck did he just pull that off?”, as in most awesome shit from wherever the fuck.
Started somewhere around John Montgomery, won the skeleton my seven hundredths of a second, was awarded a beer when he got off the mountainside which he chugged and had to pass off to his RCMP escort so he could do his CTV interview. See? Awesome shit. And then we went on and got the most golds and came in third (as much as I was rooting for Norway for how well they were doing).
I had to work the last ten (and then overtime) minutes of the Canada US hockey game and let me tell you, the streets were bare. We won. What cars came about honked for about three hours.
Prior to that, on the Thursday, I was a chauffeur for some panelists at a film night for Pride House. Also got to sell drink tickets for our assortment of booze (so I got to work bar, woo). Chauffeur was from Horseshoe Bay Ferry, ‘course. I love that drive. I loved that drive home. It was a great night. Got a volunteer T-shirt, forgot my own there… which I have yet to get back, hah.
Since then it’s been school, I love school, and friends and random shit. I keep drawing and I figure I’ve gotten significantly better, I’m working on scanning all the HALF OF SKETCHBOOK I DREW WHILE IN SEATTLE plus the last two weeks. I got halfway through that before passing out yesterday. Saturday I got home from work, was going to go to bed, decided not (with work at six in the morning why not stay up? Psht) and did damn fine at work Sunday. Up until the last hour, when the melatonin high kicked in and booooy did I seem stoned. I haven’t done that in a long while. I got home, got halfway through doing anything and everything and promptly fell asleep with my scanner still scanning and my hands on the keys of the laptop on my lap.
Madre woke me up and I stumbled up to bed where I passed out until FOUR IN THE MORNING, from FOUR IN THE AFTERNOON. This is my usual weekend ten-twelve-ish hours. I then continued to sleep until seven. Which I thought was six. Damn hour change.
So when it started to snow today I had to go, “Is it snowing?! Everyone else is seeing this right? I’m not hallucinating. I had sixteen (not actually sixteen) hours of sleep last night, I shouldn’t be hallucinating.” Half of the reaction being from Steve the instructor not seeing it at first. Was very light, more hail-ish in the bits of ice sort of way.
Squeek texted me: WHY IS IT SNOWING?!?
It was in the forecast, but we had a week of bright ass sun.
Oh and Alyse at work totally pegged me in the middle of the forehead with a roll of tape two weeks ago.

I’m alive! And in America! Not mutually exclusive, by the way.
And I’m here with Charmsies. There’s a rope made out of underwear. Skill.
I’m going to stop saying shit as people talk. They bicker. It’s kind of adorable.
Ahem.
Okay, so, time skip and now I’m leaving in a couple of hours. Woo. Tales of walking around Seattle time! So, Friday morning we had pancakes. I love syrup. It’s like sugar and tree juice (it is) and it’s awesome. And then we went to Pike’s Place Market and it was the shit. We spent a couple hours there (outrageous!). Cool Indian store of awesome, talked about BC a bit with the dude there (he has relatives). There was a chick with a chorded up dog who was SO HAPPY. And we hung by a bookstore (Charmsies likes indie stuff, it’s awesome) and a dude was all TMNT hoodie! And singing of song. And talking. Of TMNT. I love shit.
And we snagged a Thai iced tea, which is like heaven and coconut milk combined. But the coconut milk is ambrosia. We chilled in a park for a bit, talked a lot and then I asked where all the gay people were (I wanted to find gay people) so we took a bus to Capital Hill. Very shiny.
We ventured around, cool monster store… and then a couple fetish places (holy fucking awesome Batman)… We were getting tired and thirsty and I suggested ice cream (because I saw a sign for ice cream) and Charmsies thought I was having a random craving (pshkt). Home made ice cream! It was the shit.
And then back to the apartment. And then food. Good food. Spicy awesome mussels at Japanese place. Followed by recording of Things03, RP of Doom reading and then a video that’s way too fucking long for youtube. Fuck yeah.
Bitches.
So, shit acquired: India Temple incense, copper snake ring, Batman belt buckle… we went to Xanadu comics (whoops, forgot) and I snagged a thing of I Kill Giants (Golden Collectibles on Granville doesn’t have backlog, shit). Snagged a rainbow sticker for my car (will cover last Beat sticker, fucking Beat stickers all over my car). Tha’s about it.
Woke up today, moved car, gotta get gas (saved money for it because I’m not stupid sometimes) and then back home to work at two twenty.
So, chilling with Charmsies is farking shweet. We have epic plans of doom. Dooooooom. And I’m tossing myself back down the border during the games some, to chill for more than a day and a bit. Cool.

New place of work = lots of hours. Crazy awesome amount of hours. I’m psyched. I have today through to Sunday. Which means I have to work at nine in the morning after being in Vancouver until two in the morning at a ska show (Rude City Riot @ the Shark Club, with The Valuables and The Kiltlifters).
Today’s accomplishments: Bought four glass bottles of iced tea from cafeteria with ten dollar voucher awarded for taking math test in class.
Steve: Are you planning on having a tea party?
Me: Yes.
It’s been a while…
Listening to: Airborne Toxic Event
Updating….
Things we’ve missed:
Taboo Sex Show. Band shows. Hockey game (glass broke). All kinds of crazy things. Metric concert. Hanging with Joe. Passing Drafting Core semester. Hanging with Bones y Squeek in the craziest ways (ahem, icing incident?). Gettings awesomes clothes, recently too (TMNT sweatshirt). Not crappy Christmas (first in a while). Pool in Joe’s basement for New Year’s. Watching Sherlock Holmes FOUR TIMES. School starting up again.
A lot.
A lot of cool and awesome things.
But also lotsa shit, of course. I got left alone for a week. And Ren kept ditching plans so… uh… suckage as soon as the sun dropped. Which sucked for queueing up to school and forgetting to take happy pills (they gave me happy pills) and blablabla. But hey, I’m updating my blog so… uh, stuff:
- Working again. Jennings primarily but it’s slow going. I’mma rereading My Boyfriend’s A Rugby Player right now.
- Practised a shit ton of piano, mostly. I got stuck a bit on a part of a song while people were away but yeah.
- Doing a 100 themes challenge. Hey, let’s improve my arts! But I ran out of sketchbook pages… fark!
Got some cool shit, got some new CDs. Squeek put me on Mother Mother. Read a few books. Got to see the relatives’ place up in Kelowna (cool digs). Mi tio Danny is calling me by my pref’d name. Charmsies is moving to Seattle soon, an’ then I can visit her! I reaaaaally need to send my letter to well… multiple letters. And I’m expecting mail, but I’m pretty sure some of my mail is indefinitely lost. -sigh-

NaNo Update:
Newsflash! I have too much fun making up names of random shit.
Would’ve written more last night but started to pass out. At 21.6k.
Developments (most of which from last time): Cacra’s hair is teal, Fyodor and Keely have shit to go on later (so I’d keep writing but passing out…), Fyodor’s funny when completely wasted, Grady is creepy.
I’ve added more and more and more stuff to the supplemental. Need to go into detail about Grady and stuff like pain tolerance and the broken nose (’specially since he has no ‘training’, it was actually a faith thing about the pain).

NaNo Update
Shit just got awesome.
Just broke 20k words.
And now comes the complete madness.
…I have to stop writing at two in the morning.

NaNo update:
Over 7k words. Switched from listening to Brand New’s Daisy to my playlist of songs from Community Records.
My rough file (dialogue, character things etc.) is over 750 words… Hah.
Supposedly going to race B-san, she’s just about at 10k, and I can catch that up real quick. ’specially tomorrow.
Have yet to start into plot-plot yet.

Monday wasn’t so bad, really. Plane home, got to work on NaNo in the airport. Hilarity with the tired things. Honestly. “So, what did you spend the ___ on?” “Uuuh… I remember a sweatshirt… a book?”
Okay, Tuesday, late for school. I hate that. Really. A lot. Afterwards, Metric show. Lots of running around in the car getting stuff, filling up gas and all. Getting told the wrong address for the Orpheum… might punch someone for that one. Got to the show before Metric started, ‘course. The other band was going, Joe and I didn’t really get to hear them because of these chiquitas behind us talking significantly loud (weren’t even their seats ad far as I know).
Uh, lets see. Bones, friend of Joe, Keith… as in Breast Fest dude, lot guy from work.
Metric was good and all. Of course. Not a lot of talking to the crowd until later. Mah. I was already down for the count by then. What little dancing we did (Orpheum = seats, and we were on the upper balcony) got my shoulder to ache. Left. Like a bitch, honestly. Used my sweatshirt as a sling. Went around after the show wandering, eating some food, drove Bones and Joe home… little to no one on the highway that late… sooo much fun driving. Honestly.
Uh, shit, snagged a shirt and poster. I’unno, posters are getting to be a thing. Prints too, rather. Posters are for band rooms. Prints get put behind glass… which I gotta do yet.
So, right now, just finishing off the movie (Sex and Death 101), going to write s’more NaNo.
Unmentioned highlights of YaoiCon: Transish (?) person walking into the bathroom and doing the bathroom sign check “that’s the first time I’ve ever had to do that”, crazy awesome people hanging out with in the lobby, Superman, eating an entire thing of mashed potatoes, totally NaNo canon photos, Wiiiings awesome, awesome shit from the dealer’s room(s), awesome shit from the fan market (Reboot pin anyone?), networking, promo-ing ATB. Also, remember ’bout wanting to do entire Justice League costume thing.
Note about photos: they’ll be up before the end of the weekend.
Oh, and I didn’t go to school today. Fssssk.
No commentsNot lunchtime at all…
It’s lunchtime, I’m at school, and I should be doing dimensioning.
But it’s lunchtime, so I don’t have to do dimensioning, so I’m writing this… bloody Monday class… need peoples’ notes… ANYWAYS, it’s officially ’squee’ time. Honestly. Tomorrow, after school, after my endo appointment, I’ll be on a plane to San Francisco… DUDES, CHECK THAT SHIT OUT. I’m all squee-age and excited and whatnot.
So, here’s the upload. I’m bringing shiny, probably try typing ongoings, probably from my notes, but yeah. I bring notebooks to cons… was actually rather useful at VCON ’cause I know I won’t remember shit but some of those panels were bloody interesting (who knows the first vampire movie ever?
I do!), and awesome shit that’d pop into mi cabeza for writing. Which, by the way, is what litters bits of papers and notebooks all over my house and school work and I have to redo the filing system for my ‘rough’ folder.
Which brings me to NaNoWriMo, oddly enough. This year, I’m doing it. Mostly because I’m actually aware of it this year. Hah. I’m also not working on anything specific at the time (read: five different stories but haven’t actually written on one for a few days). My plan is to go with the costume I’m wearing at YaoiCon, throw in aerial ship things, some foggy steam, crossed up tech, and anything that’ll fit from the fifteen-twenty or so ‘filed’ files in my Rough folder. I mean, there are non-file system files in there, but they’re like… boats. Boats is great.
So, leaving to SF Thursday, coming home Monday, going to miss my appointment with Dr. Hay… which I’ll ask about at the endo appointment because I still don’t know what Dr. Hay does. And I still haven’t phoned about that. Woops. Tuesday is the Metric concert, I’m driving with Muphen. Other people will be there, allegedly. And then that weekend is the Taboo Sex Show.
Today… today I bike home from school, grab my notebook that I FRAKKIN’ FORGOT THIS MORNING, do all the shit I have to do. Meaning drive around and shit. Need to get a lens cap (people at mi madre’s trabajo lost mine… yes… yes, horrible… mi madre estare reimbursing me), talk to the bank about my balance and my trip, buy some last minute-ish things from the mall or wherever (hey, it’s open until 9pm today!) and do a load of whites.
Oh, and eat. Eating’s important.
I haven’t really been eating the last couple of days.
I blame sleeping in… which sucks when you have school. Honestly, s’not cool.
Conclusion: FUCKING EXCITED.
No commentsWrrrrry
Why am I awake? Honestly. It’s six thirty in the morning, I finished breakfast an hour and a half ago, I should be asleep. Remind me not to do this tomorrow. Really. I have school tomorrow.
So here I am in bed with my sweatshirt on, adjusting the brightness of my screen back and forth (damn you photobooth!), with the regular prickly tiredness of the eyes. Y’know the kind? You only really feel it when you close your eyes and its purpose seems to be as a signifier to your tear ducts to cover the pricklyness. Makes you want to keep your eyes shut (feels good with the tears covering the tired pricklyness) and thus go back to sleep. Just realizing this now.
Breakfast was good. I made a sort of salmon wrap in my naan again; lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushroom as well. It’s good stuff, really. I figure it should be a decent amount of protein for today, which is what I worry about. And I downed it with water; something else I worry about.
Okay, so, I started a new story (yes, yes, hate me). I’m at the point where, if I don’t have a name for the story, I just name them NS-#. I’d do NS-## but I really hope I won’t go further than nine (optionally ten), especially since who the fuck’ll tell the difference between NS-55 and NS-74? Honestly? I wouldn’t. If I did that to everything I have now, I’d spend hours trying to find Preacher Man or HGAS or ANYTHING… that isn’t discernible by size alone. Hellooooo Opus.
Back to the point, new story. S’cool. S’like steampunk but gritty and then I said fuckit and went with electric shit too. So, basically, it’s steampunk and ‘if we hadn’t killed the electric car’, but darkish. Main char is Jennings, he kind of operates on different social norms from the rest of everyone, so it’s shiny. Anyways, we open in a police station (after a snippet of mysterious dialogue) with Jennings and the introduction of another main character (along with the constant mention of a third) who is the police chief Blythe Quinn, and second in command something Brinley. And then awesome craziness. I don’t really want it to be another stupid police involved murder mystery thing (though Jennings works as a sort of consult), but there has to be killing eventually… or maybe in a sequel/prequel. The characters are strong enough for series-ification. -shrug-
Oh, and then I wrote this when I was going to post on Khaos “I’d like to confess that I’m a mess”.
I’d like to confess
That I’m a mess
I’m under some stress
From what? I can’t guess
But I digress
It’s something I can’t address
And I haven’t had progress
In trying to express
My recent distress
It needs no finesse
I promise not to suppress
Nor press
In any regress
But here I transgress
It’ll sometimes impress
For being able to possess
As something I can’t profess
I’d rather not obsess.
